Conference Premier
Alfreton Town 3 Law (25), Akinde (52, pen), Clayton (80)
Grimsby Town 3 Hannah (7, 33, 70 pen)
Attendance: 1771
No point in being clever, it can only be Ross Hannah. Not picking him much doesn't look clever, does it?
This was a very atypical Town performance - they looked like a Conference team, being slack, slap-happy in defence, but with some attacking brio.
Town still can't handle athletic and aggressively mobile opponents. Thanoj's presence resulted in some passing and some movement, while Hannah was more like the Hannah of yore. And Town finally looked like they'd score a normal, boring goal. If only the defence would start concentrating and stop panicking there would be some semblance of hope should Town skulk into the play-offs.
Direct, simple and without competent central defenders. Nothing new to report. I won't waste any more waking hours.
Alfreton, same as always, but a slightly better strike-force than usual. If you can't beat them, you don't deserve to go up.
Remarkably patient.
Mr P. Bankes
There's no saving Mr Bankes. If both sides are complaining then you can't have got much wrong, eh? A useful idiot for people to blame for their own mistakes. Kempson should have been sent off, Town should have had another penalty, and so should they. Woefully wrong mostly. A man reaching the optimal clatten point: 4.567
Hanging around, waiting in the ground, watching the ship run aground.
