Cod Almighty man of the match: James McKeown

Without James McKeown Town would have undeservedly drawn this game 3-3. He didn't have to do much, but what he did do he did it for you, and very well indeed. A Jolley good show.

Our gaffer says

The man has plans and won't be having a snooze over the summer. He means business.

''We clearly want to have more days like today but today only happened because the players and staff worked hard."

Their gaffer says

We're feeling glad all over but their chubby broccoli eater is just glad it's all over.

"I'm glad it's over, we've taken losing too easily this year."

And next year too would be fine by us.

Us

After a winter of discontent, Town made quite decent by this son of York.

On an enervating day of irrelevance every single of one of them stuck to the script and kept on going. The midfield triangle added suaveness to the pancake mix and Jolley's made the impossible possible: JJ Hooper man of goals, with his ridiculous, sublime and sublimer hat-trick.

What have we got? Passing, movement and all the tricks in the Buckley book to boot. It's a shame the season has ended, given that for us it's only just begun with white-hot pace and promises.

Them

Fruitless, pointless, useless.

Grimsby 'til I die... or cry?

It's been a long cold lonely winter, and now the smile's returning to our faces.

Official warning

Mr S Stockbridge and Mr A Bromley

Slapdash Seb had a bit of sunstroke, which was handy given his predilection for eco-friendly peeping. On a breathless day he was the wind beneath their wings: 6.013.

Ah, now, the roly-poly replacement service was a grand lad, letting play flow like a mountain stream and unconcerned by local whining. Big Andy had a winning smile: 8.877

Readers' digest

A summer breeze makes us feel fine.

In a word: hot
