Division 4

Mansfield Town 2 Walker (50, 82)

Grimsby Town 1 Benning og (36)

Attendance: 4118 (544 away fans)

Cod Almighty man of the match: James McKeown

James McKeown was utterly magnificent, standing on the bridge with his captain Danny Collins as the boat burned around them.

No strength, no height, no pace, no mental resilience. Simply overpowered and overwhelmed.

Collins, McKeown, Famewo and Hendrie were fingers in the dyke, the rest were bystanders. After half time Mitch Rose was alarmingly awful and Cook disintegrated. The rest were tailors' dummies.

This Town aren't grown up enough to cope with men's football.

They just looked athletically superior.

Play–off material, though they were a little too full of themselves in flicking and tricking. Once they abandoned trotting and teasing and just upped the intensity, they drowned Town.

They should have won by six. Or seven. Or eight.

Grimsby 'til I die... or cry?

We don't need a drum, but by the end some did need their mum.

Official warning

Mr K Stroud (Dorset)

There's nothing to complain about, even being even-handed in spotting foul throws: 8.666.

Readers' digest

They started athletically, we ended pathetically.

In a word: wilting
