Division 4
Crawley Town 3 Palmer (16, 70), Nadesan (77)
Grimsby Town 2 Whitehouse (21), Hanson (32)
Attendance: 2480 (519 away fans)
If a player stands out as being transformed by Holloway, it's Whitehouse. Under a more defence-minded manager, where everything was about tucking in and restricting space, he looked at times a willing cart horse. Under Holloway he is released. His movement forward and his passing has been added to covering every blade of grass and he is becoming a goal threat.
Town should have won. For most of the game we were the team on top. We had 19 shots, eight on target.
We are losing differently. There will be those that say so what it's a results game, but when you've travelled all day it's good to at least feel entertained. We used to lose never having had a shot. We might still lose but at least we have a crack, and we pass.
Crawley are a competent team but should feel lucky to get all three points. Palmer looks a better player than he did for us; maybe he's just more loved. Either way he always scores against us.
You can focus on a player getting done by a decent piece of skill, or getting caught in possession, and slaughter them online. The result will be that they will hoof it forward, fearful of making a mistake, and you'll slaughter them online and bemoan the lack of pass and move. Or you can focus on 19 shots in a decent performance, undone by 10 daft minutes. If it's the latter, see you next week; if the former, don't bother.
Mr N Kinseley
The ref missed a handball in one of several goalmouth melees late, on but he wasn't noticeable and that's always a good thing in a ref.
