Cod Almighty man of the match: Charles Vernam

Vernam’s hat-trick and third goal were outstanding and the third goal was something no Town player has done for years. If anyone can remember a better individual effort please send answers on a postcard to Cod Almighty.

Our gaffer says

Hogging the limelight?

“Chaz (Vernam) has stolen the night with a wonderful winning goal, but it was the rest of it, everything else was fantastic."

Their gaffer says

No disrespect to the likes of...

"There's a recognition of when the bigger teams turn up, we tend to turn up (as) individuals and when the lesser teams turn up, individuals don't tend to turn up and that's proved it again, from Swindon to Cambridge to Plymouth to (Grimsby)."

Us

Whatever has happened in recent weeks has been little short of amazing because the team played with the touch, ability and spirit that has been absent for years.

Official warning

Mr W Finnie

The officials were dire. Even the Col U fans were chanting “you’re not fit to referee” and the lineo in front of the Town support was frequently out of position to judge off-side, which meant that he frequently allowed play to continue when it should have been pulled back. VAR may have its drawbacks but it showed why some sort of review system was necessary. Red cards to match their red shirts.
