According to the official site Town chairman Peter Furneaux agrees with admitting Celtic and Rangers to the first division if certain safeguards are met.
Paul Groves is looking to secure a 'glamour' pre-season friendly.
Sunday 12 May
Birmingham edge out Norwich 4-2 on penalties in an exciting first division play-off. Iwan Roberts scored with a forceful header to put the Canaries in front a minute into the first period of extra time, while Geoff Horsfield seized upon a chance eight minutes from the end to send the game to s shoot out.
The Observer reports that Rangers and Celtic are in line to be invited to the English first division at Thursday's meeting of club chairmen.
Saturday 11 May
Stoke City, captained by man of the match Peter Handyside, beat Brentford 2-0 in the second division play-off.
A 1-1 draw for Sunderland consigns Ipswich – beaten 5-0 at Anfield – to division one football next season.

The official site carries details of the club's pre-season tour to Scandinavia. The Mariners will play AB Copenhagen, Herforge BK, and Frem A/S between Thursday 18 July and Monday 22 July.

Lennie Lawrence's Cardiff City miss out on a trip to the Millenium Stadium as they crash 2-0 to Stoke City – 2-3 on aggregate – in their second division play-off semi. According to Radio Five Live, Peter Handyside – snubbed by Lawrence during his time at Blundell Park – is "magnificent".
