The one with the unloading of my "program"

2 December 2003

My program
Your program. I want to unload and delete it from my computer. Please send instructions.
Gary

Hehe. No, hang on. Er, what? But seriously though... WHAT!? [Letters Ed]

----------------------------------

Mr Wright
I've just done the 'Mr Right' questionnaire. I scored 40% water, 30% air, 20% fire and 10% earth. In attempting to kick off a game of Mr Right Top Trumps, I challenge you all to beat me. I pick 'Water'.
Paul Wright

Horsey to King Prawn four. Your move. [Letters Ed]

Cud cod
In reply to the letter about Carl Puttnam from Cud. Although it's only a vague link, I do remember seeing Cud at the Beachy in Cleethorpes at the arse end of the 80s. They were great.

Cud it be magic
Dylan is dead right - Cud played the Winter Gardens in about 1989, with the excellent Bachelor Pad in support. I remember it well, staking my claim to indie fame by supping beer with the Cud boys backstage afterwards, having played on the same bill as them at an all-dayer at the Beachcomber a few months earlier. They'd promised then that they'd come and play Meggies again, bless 'em.

Ooh, and The House of Love at the Winter Gardens as well... that was something...

Back in the USSR
Someone mentioned in last week's letters that they had seen Alexander Solzhenitsyn at Kings Cross station but couldn't quite decide what connection he may have with GTFC. Well after reading A Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich and watching many matches at Blundell Park I can see a very obvious connection.

Local man in the photograph
I remember a while back (quite a while back, in fact) seeing a photo accompanying an article in the Grimsby Telegraph of a bloke on holiday wearing a T-shirt. This shirt was a send up of the sign on the A180 declaring Grimsby as being Europe's Food Town but instead the slogan was Grimsby: Europe's Football Town. I always wanted one. Anyway, anyone else remember it or better still own one or, the ultimate, are you that bloke on holiday?

It also brings up the issue of Town's crappy merchandise. Surely we can do better than just a polo shirt with the club badge on.
Rich Mills
via email

I was that bloke on holiday once. Had a right laugh. [Letters Ed]

----------------------------------

Mingler
I stood next to that lass from Echobelly in a buffet queue (she mings in real life, trust me). I got into a bit of a fight with Rocket from the Crypt and I trod on Goldie's foot. Live the dream.

----------------------------------

Crate Goats
Very flimsy evidence proving the new stadium is still a goer was provided last week by the sighting of two McAlpine engineers surveying the slip road to the A180 next to the proposed new site. I really would like the Conoco stadium to be a reality even if it was just to see the smug smiles wiped from the faces of Great Coates residents when they realise the prospect of hordes of unwashed Town fans urinating through their letterboxes is back on again.
Ed Fleet
via email

I often urinate through the letter boxes of Great Coates residents, so I can't see what they're complaining about. I do have a wash first though. Well, you've got to look your best, haven't you? [Letters Ed]

Grimsby is not in England?
Your T-shirts saying "Grimsby is not in Yorkshire" might have a short shelf life. Have you not heard about the north-east's possible devolution? More information is on the BBC site.

Given the lack of support for the idea, maybe you would like to underline the word 'might' in my opening paragraph.

Print prompt
I was wondering if your fanzine is available in print. I visit your site twice a week, but find squeezing in a read of all your new works difficult in my short lunch breaks. If there was a printed version I could read it at home at my own pace? There might be a printed version out there but I haven't seen it yet. Please advise.

ps. Keep up the good work. The site keeps getting better and better.
Marcus Scott
via email

Cheers Marcus. No print version is available at the moment although we may run 'specials' in the future. In the meantime, abuse work facilities by using the print icon to print paper copies of all our pages. [Letters Ed]

Big Daddy
I fucking love the t-shirts, they're ace, but I reckon that they should be available in bigger sizes so I can get my dad them. Any plans to do this?
Glenn Bateman Jnr
via email

Well, we did an initial test run to see how popular they would be. The T-shirt bod tells me they're selling very well, so if they sell out then we could order in some larger sizes if the demand is there. We'll see what we can do to accomodate your pie-munching dad. [Letters Ed]

----------------------------------

XX-treme drinking
Any chance of bigger sizes in your cool t-shirts as most Town fans I know have beer guts. Then again, watching Town is enough to drive anyone to drink! XX-large would do me fine.
Glenn Bateman
via email

And perhaps we'll see if we can get a beer holder and pie pocket fitted as standard... [Letters Ed]

There are some Town fans who never get letters. Every letter sent to the feedback page goes some way to help provide a brighter, more letter-filled day for Mariners fans worldwide. Please give generously.
