Postbag: after the goldrush
Letters Editor
26 December 2011
The FA Cup, the attendance at Sincil Bank and the odd bit of Lincolnshire dialect are on your mind.
To expose some more of it (but not too much, CA funds don't run to psychotherapy training), write to postbag@codalmighty.com.
My postillion has been struck by lightning
My gran taught me an old Lincolnshire saying – no idea how it's written, though.
Jig ma jig = fox
Hog me hog = gun
Gafawer = chicken

I did say odd. That's in response to Joanne's request in the last postbag for a dialogue in Grimsby dialect. Not sure it'll meet her needs, but it meets Cod Almighty's.
The magic of the FA Cup
I feel compelled to write a short message about Pat Bell's excellent FA Cup article. I was too young to remember it directly, and started following town towards the end of Buckley's first spell. Certainly throughout the infamous '10 years of decline' there's not been too much to shout about, but the parallels between that first Buckley side and what Shorty and Shouty are attempting are there for all to see.
Of course, this is GTFC, so I'm far from confident we'll see Salisbury off, but if we do...

There is nothing like a good cup run, even if it turns out to be someone else's ...
Salisbury Plain truth
You know when Town lose (to the likes of Braintree, Ebbsfleet and Salisbury – no disrespect intended to their likes of course) the world as a whole just makes a little less sense. As someone easily satisfied with the best I am in the after-match (sic) of our ignominious F A Cup exit somewhat stiffened with shock (and horror!).
I am now reflecting hard on the accepted wisdom that you can't make a wit out of two halfwits. . .
When will this strange yearning end and when can I be bothered to see The Mariners again.
Agonisingly

One door closes, another opens (possibly prior to slamming shut in your face) ...
Filling Lincoln's coffers
I agree with the Diary about Town fans snapping up Lincoln tickets on Boxing Day (See the entry for the 21st December). I've got mine but I've been attending the home games. There must be hundreds of 'Town Fans' attending this game who haven't bothered to attend a home game this season, and that's where we need the revenue, at home, not into Lincoln's empty coffers!

Thanks Martin, and all our other writers.
Hope you had a good day yesterday, have an even better afternoon and will see you in the New Year, just so long as you write.
