We stood on a beach now baby - do you remember when?
So they walked in and dream-came-trued it for ya. All these obviously well-researched players entered the building and then left for photos on the beach. Your Guest Diarist feels encouraged. Wingers, strikers, attacking people, full backs, wing backs even a goalkeeper who is not competing in his first rodeo. Speaking of which I was curious as to why Mr Clough junior let him go. The internet obliged with a quote from the man which was candidly complimentary and frankly brutal in one sentence:
"Christy Pym has been magnificent for a couple of seasons, but since Christmas we just felt there've been a few too many mistakes in there, and at crucial times as well.”
Well the way I look at that is to think Christy Pym has one hell of a point to prove. A fresh start will give him a great chance to do that. When the defenders in front of you become unreliable the confidence goes - you don't become a bad player overnight. The main thing Mr Artell and his team have to do is to make our defence more solid. Do that and Pym will be back to his best.
Two of our big new sponsors Winner Winner Chicken Dinner and Ramsden Home Interiors have got very long names. I know sponsorship is all about brand awareness and all sorts of things I can't be bothered to spout here but when your name alone is half a haiku syllable-wise I think consideration should be given to a judicious pruning. #WWCD would look so much better on the back of the shirt next season wouldn't it? And everyone in the Grimsby area knows Ramsdens inside out so the Ramsden stand trots off the tongue so much easier surely? Just a thought.
Our longtime-used-to-be ex-chairman has recorded a video for fans to watch. He is optimistic, he's hotter than July in fact and he says the clubs stars are aligning. Alignment is his new buzzword. Eveything is great now we have alignment. Jason is a cheery soul so I can forgive him a lot. Oh, and we failed B-Corp so that is well and truly back burnered.
The test match is starting, and you have caught me in the middle of brining the veg to make piccallilli so I will love you and leave you with one last thought - the squad mix we have got gives us the chance to see the Wolds Panther playing centrally behind the striker. A position I think will suit him, less defensive responsibility and the chance to link attacks and get into shooting positions. If he can stay fit that is. This season really is make-or-break for Charles. See yer.
