Diamond mine to the factory

18 May 2022

It's Wednesday, or as we say in these parts, Forgot to put the Bloody Bin Out Again Day. In Daubney's overflowing wheelie is most of this week's chatter so far. A couple of days froth on non-tickety boo tickety stuff as excited minds attempt to occupy time until Monday evening or as they say in Bananarama parts, Eliminator Day.

The sharp intake of breath reflex action that accompanies the words "Town have issued at a statement" is subsiding slowly. It's probably at the level of Danny Coyne's current keeping reactions: not the hair-trigger shot-stopping reactions of his Anfield peak but still capable of saving a bottle of Heinz as it slides off the kitchen table.

Yesterday's GTFC statement claimed to explain away the computer gremlins which messed with the sale of tickets for the Notts County game. Those in the know recognised the issues were intentional bugs to stress test the system ahead of next week's sale of Wrexham tickets, the final the week after, and record season ticket sales as part of the "Back in the Effing League You Black and White Beauties" promotion the week after that.

With all further talk of tickets banned, what other morsels have we got? Yes, well done Buckley Babe, Chris Hargeaves, who has landed the manager's job at conference middlemen, Yeovil Town. Chris joins from the Bristol Rovers setup and we wish him all the best in Yeovil's quest to join us in the Football League. Sorry, some of the overflowing optimism from the last paragraph has leaked onto this one. Please ignore and move on, we'll mop it up later.

Right in the absence of anything else noteworthy happening in the Blundell Park workspace, I'm off to jump on the bin to make some space for another week. Or two. Sounds like fun, but it isn't. It's serious business and requires the same level of preparation and concentration as bomb disposal. Probably. Why? Well, if you fall and snot yourself you'll be remembered for evermore as that bloke who died falling off a wheelie bin. Try living that one down.
