Miss Guest Diary writes: Yesterday, the diary gave you a fairly comprehensive lowdown on new signing Joe Colbeck. One important detail was missing: he has very sensible hair. Colbeck shares this admirable quality with most Town players of the last 20-odd years. Obviously, I am glossing over Adam Proudlock here.

The ongoing Euro 2012 tournament has, once again, brought home to me just how ridiculous many top-flight footballers are willing to look in the name of... what, exactly? I really can't guess. A few choice examples spring to mind: Ashley Cole's shaven-sided chipmunk look; Samaras as Jesus Christ Superstar; Ibrahimovic's horrendous top-knot and Torres channelling Flashdance. Oh what a feeling. Not to mention the utter wrongness of men with ponytails.

And then there's Wayne Rooney's hair gel.

The TV director continues to favour the slow-motion cut-away to blondes in the crowd - I counted eleven during Tuesday's England game. This has also allowed us to see some amazing varieties of face painting. Much of it looks amateurish and improvised and I have visions of some fans having to resort to white spirit and a scrubbing brush, or having simply to wait for the colours to wear off. Whatever happened to rosettes? I was brought up near Wembley and one of my early memories is of seeing thousands of people on cup final day sporting blue and white rosettes. So much more civilised.

Following our moan on Tuesday about the failure of the SNOS to provide a handy list of all the pre-season games, the excellent football blog Too Good To Go Down has done the job for them. Much appreciated.

And now for some Town news. Nope, just kidding. Well two stories in a week at this time of year would be a bit greedy. Instead, here's another take on Joe Colbeck. Still no mention of the sensible hair, though.
