The most 'Grimsby' Grimsby team ever

Devon Diary writes: Yesterday's diary mentioned Reece Hall-Johnson's eye-catching winner in Tuesday's kickabout with Donny. Now you can actually catch your eyes on it, thanks to Arif Ahmed's clip of the goal and build-up.
Playing out from the back, nine passes from GK to goal, 25 yard finish. The signs look positive for #GTFC for the coming season under Michael Jolley. pic.twitter.com/VucOmhAbp8

Just twenty seconds from leaving McKeown's hands to the ball nestling in the corner of the net. Thank you baby Jesus for sending us a manager who isn't instructing our keeper and defenders to launch the ball into orbit. We are playing football with the football!
Original/regular Diary also talked yesterday about local lads Max Wright and Harry Clifton being joined by Charles Vernam; the positive vibes flowing from the fans about this reconnection with the town. Those of you spending your summer evenings watching Town's pre-season games (or catching up with the highlights on Youtube) will be wondering if young Buckley Jr Jr might also join them before next May. He certainly looks the business; strong, comfortable on the ball and with an eye for goal.
Four local lads on the pitch together? Can it happen? Will it happen? When was the last time it happened? Wicklow Diary reckons we need to be looking back to 1980 when we had the Moores, Ford, Drinkell, Mawer, Wilkinson and Lund. I reckon he's probably right – but have we missed anything more recent and is four the most we fielded at once? Let us know. You know how by now.
We found out yesterday that (John) Macca is now coaching Scunny's under-16s. It smarts a bit, doesn't it? But no more than letting him leave like we did. Good luck to him, we say, and let's hope he's being remunerated for his efforts and it's not just something to get him out of the house and away from the kids.
Before I go, allow me to draw your attention to this rather splendid thing that our own Pete Green has written for the local rag.
