The Mariners' first pre-season game is a 4-0 win against Brigg Town. Groves fields his first team (ie- all 11 of the fit senior players he's got available) for the first 60 minutes and starts adding youngsters to the pot thereafter. Jevons has a deflected shot go in, Gallimore slaps a free-kick home, with Rowan and Carchedi wrapping things up late on. Cod Almighty asks you to keep an eye on David Soames - the boy looks a bit special.

Chairman Peter Furneaux says he will not resign. And quite right too.
