Diary - Wednesday 15 February 2006

15 February 2006

Town sit second in the league table, overtaken by Wycombe (who are probably still the best team in this division, after all) following last night's just-about-deserved 2-1 defeat at Mansfield. Both the home side's goals resulted from awful individual errors by GTFC players (Tom Newey and Steve Mildenhall), but between the opening goal on 19 minutes and the sending-off of Gareth Jelleyman on 73 Town were void as an attacking force, again relying on hopeful percentage knockdowns from the head of Luton's Michael Reddy rather than creating and crafting chances, and Curtis Woodhouse's late consolation strike was only ever going to be that. Console yourselves, readers, with the knowledge that the result is only recompense for the Mariners' unfair and unjust victory over Mansfield last month, and that if Town hadn't lost last night then the Universe would have needed to restore its karmic equilibrium with a cheeky tweak to Reddy's cruciates.

The Diary is bidding you ta-ta a day early this week, as I have some important things to do, so I will leave you with guest diarists for both tomorrow and Friday. Fare thee well.
