Middlesbrough defender Jason Gavin is in talks about extending his loan with the Mariners for a further month. The young Irishman's initial one-month spell at Blundell Park has now expired, but Gavin is keen to add to his first-team experience with Town; Paul Groves likes him; we think he's all right; Paul Raven has tonsilitis now; and Steve Chettle looks essentially moribund, so all parties are putting their heads together to come up with a new deal.
Town's official site reports that John Oster's loan from Sunderland is also to be extended later this week and that assertive Frenchman Georges Santos is to sign a new contract in the next day or two. Other sites, meanwhile, report that John Oster's loan from Sunderland has already been extended; while the Blundell Park tannoy announced at half time last Saturday that assertive Frenchman Georges Santos had already signed a new contract. Unless we misheard the tannoy and it was actually telling us about turkey-flavoured crisps now being available at the kiosk. It could happen. But anyway - we don't know what to think, really. Mild for the time of year, isn't it?
