You are 18 years old and a youth team player for your home town club. You are named as a substitute for the first game of the season. With two thirds of the match gone, your team is 2-0 down. The manager tells you to get ready and you go on, replacing last season's star striker. A minute later, with your first touch in professional football, you score. Within the next few minutes, your team equalises and then you get the winner.

For Peter Bore, this dream of many a young Town fan became reality on 5 August 2006.

This 18-year-old, though, has his feet firmly on the ground. No celebrations in Meggieland for our Peter on the night of his star showing, as he told the waiting media. "The lads said what a debut! They were all talking about the girls I could get tonight, but that's not for me! I'll just take it easy, put my feet up and watch TV." Nothing like a bit of How Do You Solve a Problem Like Maria? followed by Casualty to round off a great day.

Having made such a start to his career, Peter carries the expectations of Town fans in the post-Cardiff depression and he has become a regular starter in Rodger's side. He tends to play wide on the right and is particularly good at running at the left-back. When he has the ball and does this, it is even better.

In the early part of the season he seemed to be one of the few Town players who had the enthusiasm and commitment expected and this was recognised by the Town fans. At Bury, after a very poor team display, young Peter wandered over to the fans to apologise.

The former Matthew Humberstone pupil has been at the club since he was 12 and has had to fight back from breaking his leg twice in that time. He'll need that strength and determination if he is to be remembered as more than just the lad who had the dream debut.
