Crystal Palace have welched on their agreement to let Steve Kabba stay at Blundell Park for the rest of the season and recalled the player with immediate effect. He will not even be allowed to see out his original three-month loan agreement; he will not be available for the Stoke match on Saturday; he will not pass Go; he will not collect £200. One is tempted to observe that this is what happens when you trust a club stupid enough to employ both Trevor Francis and Danny Butterfield.
With yesterday's reserve fixture against Darlington being washed out, Town's second string are this morning playing a hastily-arranged practice match type thing against Sheffield United reserves at the Blades' training ground. And the big news is that the game will see the return of player-manager Paul Groves, who has been sidelined with a calf injury since limping off at Brighton in September. Which is nice and everything, but he isn't Steve Kabba.
The club has knocked together a video of the record-breaking (probably) 6-5 win over Burnley last week and is flogging copies for £12.99 - a super Chrimbo gift for that special Pontoonite in your life.
