Diary - Friday 8 October 2004

8 October 2004

Hello. Hello. I'm back after a short absence to bring you the news on all GTFC non-happenings today. And non-happenings there are plenty of. That is, there's bugger all to tell you really.

Your usual diary just missed out on the news yesterday that Greg Young has been sent on a months loan to Northwich Victoria. And don't they need all the help they can get - they're currently bottom of the Conference with a negative goal difference and a negative points tally. That's a bad start to the season. Eagle-eyed Mariners' fans will have noticed though, that young Greg should be joined in central defence by a Mr Handyside - formerly of Barnsley and Stoke. Greg should also spot familiar faces in Chris "I was at Liverpool once you know" Thompson and summer-time trialist Alex "not that one" Higgins.

As mentioned yesterday, Big Stan has some kind of illness - which he still has - so it is looking more and more likely that Cramb will start the match tonight. Our Russ was happy with his performance in the reserves, where he could've scored a hat-trick apparently - so lets hope he gets his chance tonight. I'm sure Colin is keen to get himself a permanent contract if this interesting report is to be believed...

To be honest - I'm struggling to read the news myself here. Apparently the GET server is 'too busy'. Doing what, exactly? Ah, here we go. It's Ass. Boss Graham Rodger's turn this week to state that Town have got to start taking their chances and have to be more consistent. They should get a plaque made and nail it to the Norwegian Gate, I reckon.

Northampton, meanwhile, will be happy that two key players have returned from injury. Another Cobbler familiar to Town fans will be Sabin - familiar because he's one of those players that score against us. Bugger. Still, their defence conceded a Phil Jevons goal last week and everyone knows he's a load of rubbish, right? Ahem. There were also reports earlier this week that Southampton were after Cobblers' boss Colin Calderwood. It's always safer to be sitting down when you laugh that hard, isn't it?

And that is that. All those going tonight - have a good night and enjoy your Saturday off. Seeya.
