28 October 2010
Despite the Original Diarist's Wednesday pep talk, your Thursday reserve diarist is still mumbling and grumbling at Tuesday night's latest Town humbling. This is probably because I am a sensitive soul who just wants his local team to be a source of pride to his birthplace. That said, this season was always going to be hard for Town. After the previous two relegations the club managed only to finish 21st and 18th in their new lower divisions. Arguably there are just two real differences between the starts of this season and last. Namely, that this season the manager can stand unaided on a Saturday afternoon and one duh-duh-duh-duh Alan Connell.
At least there is good news on the Superb New Official Site, with Andrew Wright and Richard O'Donnell allowed to play against Eastbourne at the Park. Naturally this is tempered slightly by the latest on summer signing Charles Ademeno, who pulled out of the Tamworth game owing to a lack of confidence in the fitness of his hopefully rehabilitated knee. I hope that Ademeno can find fitness and form pretty soon. The absence of a second goalscorer is hurting Town. At least this is better than previous seasons when the absence of any goalscorer hurt Town even more. So long, I must be going - if only because there is such a paucity of news today.
