Mardy Diary writes: And so, against all expectation, Town did make it to the draw for the first round of the FA Cup. Ok - we're not actually in the first round, but we're in the draw. And a plum home draw against the mighty Crewe awaits if we can just limp past Tamworth tomorrow night. No, I'm not being serious.
I didn't go on Saturday (Burnsy), and to be honest, after results like that, I can't be bothered to trail through the messageboard wailings to get the measure of the match. I've seen the highlights - it looks like the usual thing: play alright, fail to take chances, don't bother to track opposition players on the edge of the area, concede goal. In fact, I think the last time I saw a Town player close the opposition down on the edge of the area was maybe 2001. If not earlier. So Tamworth eventually scored - from the edge of the area - and Town were rescued by amazing goal-machine and all round decent guy, Alan Connell.
You see, you wouldn't get someone like Alan Connell Telling The Telegraph, no that's more... hang on. No. Alan, No. Oh, no Alan. And we had such high hopes. I'm prepared to let that one slip though, on account of the million goals you've scored already this season. Just don't do it again.
And other than that there's little else to add apart from more adulation for Stockdale's youthers who continued their unbeaten run with a goalless draw at No-longer-big-spending Bradford City. Good on 'em.
