On a night when Town's defenders fell short, we look upfield to give the gong. Thanoj probed gamely. Marshall has a bit of something about him. But it's a different loanee who takes the plaudits this time, for fairly obvious reasons. We like Hannah, don't we? A fox in the box, with red socks.
"It seems at the moment that certain players want to do their own thing, they don't want to listen to instructions. If they continue to do that, they'll find themselves out the team."
Remember way back when we were a second division football club? Those big time charlies who used to roll up at Blundell Park expecting three points, get the shocks of their lives, play while holding their noses, and lose 1-0 to a Paul Groves goal after 71 minutes? That was Town at Hyde, that was. No gumption, no guts, no mettle. No mushy peas. Town only started playing when it stopped drizzling. And by then it was much too late.
Not half as bad as their league position suggests. Organised at the back, where they repelled all the half-arsed high balls Town threw at them. Useful on the break, where there was always a runner to threaten fast-retreating Mariners. On this evidence Hyde are a decent side who will comfortably evade relegation. Sorry, Lincoln.
One gobby bastard behind the goal couldn't stop barracking his team all night, helpfully continuing to bellow loud abuse even while GTFC were defending set pieces. Four or five hundred other stout-hearted Townites did their club proud and were let down by a wet chrysanthemum fountain of a performance.
Mr R Joyce (N Yorks)
We're confused. Can a homer still be a homer if the away support is larger? Mr Joyce significantly failed to punish two monstrous early assaults on Marcus Marshall, one of which looked red-worthy to these impartial eyes. The slippery pitch seemed no mitigating factor when Town's players were pulled up for less. Go, Mr Joyce, and take your 3 out of 10 with you.
Town played very well for 20 minutes.
You know where this is going, don't you.
