Saturday 14 August 2010

Conference Premier

Crawley Town 0

Grimsby Town 1 Peacock (38)

Attendance: 2428 (773 away fans)

Cod Almighty man of the match: Alan Connell

He looked interested, passed the ball well, challenged Crawley and ran about a lot -€“ which is nice cos he's a newbie, isn't he? Hope he does well with Town. He also seemed like a sweetie. One good thing about non-League grounds is that you can almost look into the eyes of the players for how close you are to them.

Our gaffer says

"The performance was nowhere near what we're capable of and what we expect. Once it went to ten men we should have dominated the game."

Their gaffer says

"It was a huge decision for the referee to make. I'm going to look at the DVD and if I'm right his bad decision was the reason why we lost that game."

Accentuate the positive

Playing badly and winning was the speciality of the great Grimsby Town sides of, er, 2006.
