Tuesday 26 October 2010

FA Cup (Q4R)

Grimsby Town 0

Tamworth 1 Perry (41)

Attendance: 1612 (51 away fans)

Sponsors' man of the match: Robert Atkinson

For those who are about to make us cry with laughter, we salute you: Robert Atkinson. You must be joking! Oh, you were.

Cod Almighty man of the match: No-one

My money's on Dave Gilbert. No-one else did quite enough to vault the hedge of excellence.

Them

Tamworth played pleasingly pleasant passing football. Smith was the ticking tinker, the man who stole our birthright to the beautiful game. Rodman rocked and rolled with an arrogant insouciance. We want them both. We want them both now. The Lambs weren't lame, but game for a laugh at our expense with their expansive tippy-tappy winging and wonging. Their defence was big and slow, but why bother when the opposition can't shoot, eh?

Grimsby 'til I die... or cry?

We came, we saw, we went home. We are used to it by now.

Official warning

Mr B Khatib (Tyne & Wear)
He wasn’t woeful. Surely some mistake – a Conference ref that isn’t incompetent? No decisions to make until the 3First minute and then he got his first one wrong. Then he didn’t get anything wrong. Then he blew his whistle and had a cup of tea: 7.123.

Beautiful plumage!
