Cod Almighty man of the match: Nathan Jarman

This will be awarded by a process of elimination: Toner and Bore were not at these races and were substituted together in disgrace. Atkinson made mistakes, unusually for him, and Fenton's shorn head ruled him out without a second thought. Newey remained Newey. Clarke had an absolute stinker, redeemed only by a brilliant free kick which came down from the underside of the bar the wrong side of the line. "Let Clarke take it!" rang around the ground thereafter. Everyone else played more or less to their ability but Jarman continues to show great promise: lively, aggressive and mobile, he gave the Posh a game. And he outshone North to the point of embarrassment. So Jarman gets the accolade. He just needs a goal to wake the slumbering, grumbling masses, and to keep fit and the faith that he is a really good young player.

Our gaffer says

"There are far too many goals going into the back of our net far too easily. At times we got some good possession towards their box and the next minute the ball is in our net. It is something that has to be sorted out for next season. That may mean one or two players may be leaving and one or two might be coming in. We need people that are prepared to put their head in there and really defend for us. It is OK being technically gifted but someone like Mark Lever would not go amiss at the moment, somebody who puts their head in there and defends that penalty box for his life."

Their gaffer says

"We have good depth in the squad. There is no doubt about that."

Them

The best team in our division. The forwards were intelligent with great movement and total awareness of their colleagues. Posh counterattacked with speed, ferocity and clinical finishing. Anyone would think their squad had cost a fortune. Oh, it did.

Official warning

Mr P Melin (Surrey)
We can't really remember much of owt about the ref. He didn't brandish many cards and there were no big decisions to get wrong. Knowing him, he probably would have though, given half a chance.

Accentuate the positive

We can't lose at home again this season, and my last ever pie at Blundell Park was a triumph of potato and gravy in pastry.
