Broadley FC supportersBroadley FC are a Lincoln Sunday League side set up in memory of Grimsby Town fan Richard Broadley, who passed away from leukaemia in September 2011.

I wanted to create something in Rich's memory that would be both appropriate to him and long-lasting, and also raise awareness for the Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research charity, the charity that many of this friends and family have already fundraised for. A football club seemed the ideal way for his memory to live on.

We'll have the charity's logo somewhere on our strips next season, which will be black and white stripes, for obvious reasons. We will take our place in Division 5 of the Sills and Betteridge Lincoln Sunday League and obviously hope to have a successful campaign.

The team now consists of 18 players, many of whom are Rich's former uni friends. We also have current students from Bishop Grosseteste University College, and several lads from Grimsby who knew him closely.

We have had massive support from people in both Grimsby and Lincoln, with many wanting to help out in any way they can, which has really helped the club get off the ground. For that we are very grateful.

You can keep up to date with Broadley FC next season by going to our website or visiting our Facebook page.

We are constantly looking for sponsors or partners to join us on this exciting adventure. If you have any interest in helping out in any way possible, please email me at matthew.newton@live.co.uk.
