Parkinson at Prestatyn
I don't know if this is news or not (I suspect not) but Andy Parkinson scored in the Europa League last night for Prestatyn. They still lost, though.
all the best,
from Steve Carlton
Letters Ed responds: It was news when Steve got in touch; it is my fault it is now history. Since Steve wrote, Prestatyn went on to beat SK Liepajas Metalurgs of Latvia on penalties, but were beaten 8-0 by Croatian side Rijeka in the next round.
A benign Gazza watch
Topical. 11 years ago, when he made his swansong appearance at Blundell Park, the Telegraph had its own treatment of "Gazza watch" (See bottom left of page)
from Ian Jackson
Letters Ed responds: Great days, when it was possible to remember Paul Gascoigne was a talented footballer, and Town held their own amid teams with such players in their ranks.
"Passing the time before fifth dinners"
Good morning gents,
I searched in vain for the thumbs up thing next to my occasional classmate Rob McIlveen's excellent, sympathetic essay on Kevin Moore in particular, and life at Wintringham in general; so I'll drop you a line instead.
By the way, I think I can offer an explanation of how so many telented footballers emerged from there at the time: it was the endless hours of practice on the playing fields passing the time before fifth dinners.
By the way, I know I must remember to log on more often.
Cheers
from Graham Joules
Letters Ed responds: The difficulty of commenting on CA pieces by other means might be thought a cunning ploy to generate some letters. However, this is ceasing to be my problem. The CA team is undergoing one of its occasional reshuffles and in a plot twist worthy of Tom Baker being announced as the new Doctor Who, the original letters editor, fresh from his magnificent work on the CA redesign, is reclaiming this slot. This means you will get a slightly easier time of it if you write anything critical of Wales, a much easier time of it if you write anything critical of the holy game of rugby, and you will have an editor with sufficient HTML nous that he might be able to put up a yellow star alongside letters of the 'week' (I suspect 'week' will remain a flexible period of time in postbag land).
All the letters in this postbag were received before the redesign, so if you do have any feedback on that, write in and you'll get a response straight from the horse's mouth. All the letters, except one ...

Letters Ed responds: It's not been my habit to expose our spam to you, but this bit, received the morning our redesign went live, was just too well timed to ignore.
