Sod all

Wednesday 4 September
London diary here. Absolutely sod all to tell you about. Not even the telewag have done a story out of nothing, so how am I supposed to slag off that non-story when they haven't even done one? Exactly.
I did have a dream the other night though about a Grimsby game. I was sat in the upper Findus and we had just signed a new defender. The only part of the dream I can really remember is that this new lad took the ball from his own box and dribbled the ball all the way to the opposition's box. He had the frame of Steve Livingstone but the agility and flare of Louis Smith and was running rings round the away team when he got ruthlessly tackled just inside their box. The referee pointed to the spot and Liam Hearn took the ball and placed it on the spot. It was at that point that my neighbour (in real life) decided to ring my doorbell, which woke me up. So I don't know if Liam did score that goal - I’m sure he did. I also don't know if that dream means that this new defender will be any good, or if I need to get out more.
Oh wait. An article has just popped up in our/your local rag about the Yoof playing a game with floodlights against Chasetown. The story talks about them wanting to impress. Oh really? Wanting to impress in a game? As I said, a slow newsday. Anyway, you should head down there if you’re free. It’s only £3 or £2 depending on your proximity to birth or death and it would be nice for the lads to play not only with floodlights, but with a crowd. Some cracking names as ever playing for the yoof: Bastock, Venney, Barnett, Sunter, Bemrose, Appleby, Humble, Winfarrah, Charlesworth, Falconer, Wattam. "Winfarrah collects a Humble pass... a punt by Sunter... a header by Venney... a throw from Bemrose."
Anyway. Let’s hope that one day we're queuing outside BP to get one of those names on the back of a brand new Town top. Hey, it might even have a Football League badge on the sleeve? No? OK, I guess one dream is enough in one diary.
You go easy now guys.
