There are days you just hate it that you care. Those of us with a taste for it get our dose of soap from Coronation Street, Emmerdale, even the truly bizarre Ambridge Extra. Once upon a time, Grimsby Town was a football club. Not only that, once upon a time it was a football club you could be proud to support. Now it appears to be just one tawdry bit of cheap melodrama after another, its few successes on the field happening almost incidentally, far too often overshadowed.
The supporters of Grimsby Town will be here long after all its players, coaches, even board members, have moved on. We will even be here if the club itself ceases to exist; the time and passion we have given to it are bitten too deep to be forgotten. Let us hope we are left with something worth cherishing.
