I want a corner seat

30 October 2013

London Diary here today. So, after the first day of ticket sales for Town's FA Cup game against Scunthorpe, home (season ticket holding) fans have snapped up 1,100 tickets. Well done you loyal beasts. If you think about it, 1,100 tickets being sold during the office hours of 9am to 5pm, that would mean a ticket being sold every two minutes. Hot cakes, right there. And don't forget, if you are a Mariners Trust member with a Rushall stub (sounds like an old-fashioned cigarette), you can get an extra ticket on Friday. Tickets go on general sale on Saturday. Get yours while you can. Wouldn't it be great if we sold so many tickets that we had to get those corner seats out again? The little green beauties.

A friend asked me the other day what I thought of Grimsby's chances in the FA Cup. Honestly, I told him that we I thought we'd get to the quarter finals and get knocked out by Everton in a replay at Goodison Park. That would be nice wouldn't it. Not too unrealistic. We can all dream once in a while. Some tasty away days at clubs we used to play week in week out, followed by a home quarter-final at Blundell Park, then a replay on the Merseyside. We get knocked out, have some lovely memories, hopefully some more cash and other teams in our league would be scared of us. Might even have a couple of quid on that. I'm a dreamer, leave me be.

GTFC played GTFC last night in an unscheduled game. Wait a minute. Unscheduled? Surely that means that randomly 15 Town players turned up at the Northolme last night and randomly bumped in to 15 Trinity players, with both teams miraculously having full kit. Next you'll be telling me there was a ref and a couple of men in black running the line. I digress. So, an apt three-goal game at Trinity (2-1 win to Town) meant that some first-teamers were able to get a run-out in midweek. Paddy Mac and Liam Hearn both started and got on the scoresheet.

In other news, the boss thinks that everyone should be like Scott Kerr, and he also likes talking to the players. Good stuff.

Oh, sad to see our neighbours lose last night. Shame. Nice lads.
