The Diary

I'm more of a ketchup man myself

4 June 2014

Hurrah! Some news for your London Diary to write about today, as we've signed a player. Crack open the Blue Nun, let's have a party. Today, Scott Brown – no, not that one, or that one, but this one – signed a one year deal with the Mariners. Wait a second – before we go any further, can you confirm if he has played for York in the last few years? Don't worry guys, of course he has. Phew.

A bit of research on the worldwide web shows that this 29-year-old is already a bit of a journeyman and I'm hoping he's more Martin Gritton than Barry Conlon. This will be his tenth club in ten years, which certainly shows that he knows his way around the lower leagues. Looking at his list of previous loves shows that Brown hasn't been at the same club for more than a year. Worrying? I don't know, let's see. Also, I seem to recall him having a trial here a few years ago. He's played with a few of our lads before and seemingly is very excited to join Town.

A bit more searching shows that Scotty B loves a can of Coke, rice and eggs. Southport fans are clearly sad to see him go, which is always a good sign. Welcome to Grimsby, pal.

Also, not sure I should be saying this, but your London Diary was lucky/sneaky enough to catch a glimpse of the new Town shirt last week and I got giddy. It was like 1998 all over again. What ever happened to Dixon Motors?
