Town may be struggling to find the net so far this season (it's at the back of the goal, chaps) – but the club's strikers have got off the mark today, at least. The team's only goal in four and a half hours of football – at home to part-time Dover Athletic last Saturday – was initially credited to midfielder Patrick McLoughlin but has since been awarded to Jon-Paul Pittman, reports Town's newly superb new official website today. The news will come as no surprise, of course, to readers of Cod Almighty, where Tony Butcher's match report had ascribed the goal to Pittman's arse as early as Sunday teatime.
Another supporters have been wondering about is how many season tickets the Mariners have sold this year. After the annual flurry of close-season updates about sales enormously outstripping those of the previous year, the club went strangely quiet about the figures – even declining to respond to questions on the matter from supporters.
@codalmighty well done mentioning number of season tickets sold,I've asked @officialgtfc on 2 separate occasions for a answer #stillwaiting

Your original/regular Diary has spotted the final figure, though – sneaking out in an announcement on the NSNOS about regular matchday tickets. Town have "been issued with a maximum of 1795 allocated seating tickets" for the forthcoming trip to Lincoln, reports the site, adding: "As we have 2,050 season ticket holders, sales will obviously be restricted." So there you go – the number has probably dipped a little during our time in non-League, but after the sequence of failures and betrayals we've suffered, the fact that more than two thousand fans are still prepared to sign up for at least another year is fairly remarkable.
And lastly today, erstwhile GTFC trialist Joe Ironside is likely to line up against the Mariners next Monday. The excellently named former Sheffield United forward has joined Alfreton Town after Paul Hurstststs opted not to sign him and will bang in two or three when his new team visits Blundell Park on the bank holiday weekend. So even if the weather stays fine, there'll still be a way for someone to rain on our parade. See yers.
