Cod Almighty | Diary
At last

Due to some snafu at Cod Almighty Towers (The kind of thing that never happens on the official site) this is going to have to be short. And unusually sweet.
Late yesterday afternoon, we published Dave Roberts' article explaining the high ambitions to put the Youth Development Association at the centre of affairs at Blundell Park. Look at the twitter thread it has provoked.
New article: The Youth Development Association can form the basis of a new core strategy and an ethos and identity for #gtfc fans to buy in to. @BrotherGrim2 explains. https://t.co/OKnzTVmSzY

There is the smallest note of frustration at what has gone before, but no cynicism. Just heartfelt enthusiasm, inspired by Dave's vision.
There's been quite a lot of criticism of Town fans over the last few months, from a few quarters, but most notably from the boardroom. The response to the YDA proves that if fans are offered something to rally behind, we will rally. It has to be something solid of course. Not just warm words which inevitably clang when they come from the lips of the people who have led us into our current state. And yes, when the rallying point is not offered, when we find ourselves in a nightmare with an all-too-credible threat but no heed being given to our warning cries, then the mood can indeed turn toxic.
Offer concrete aspirations though, and we will rally. It should be no surprise. We did it for Operation Promotion. We did it for Ivano Bonetti. We did it for Joe Waters. We love our club, and we want to show it. Thanks Dave, for offering us a vision. May everyone at the club build on it.
