I just know that something good is going to happen
4 July 2018
A quick trip round the #GTFC hashtags and your content aggregation portals reveals there's little happening this morning. I expect everyone is, like Wicklow Diary, still recovering. Chuffing hell, I was more of a wreck for the pennos last night than I was for Town in 2015. In fairness, I think a safety switch tripped on the fuseboard in my head before that Wembley shootout. Too much at stake amid all the colour, heat and noise and my brain basically shut down to avoid setting fire to itself. The mental equivalent of taking the dog for a walk or, as one CA diarist did during the shootout last night, taking a bath.
A thorough update from Devon yesterday leaves new news thin on the ground.
We could get frothy at Inspector Knacker, I suppose, for changing the kick-off for both Mansfield and Lincoln fixtures but with World Cup fever the new season, precisely one month from now, may as well be a thousand years away.
Let's stick to the World Cup then. Liam Wood in the Telegraph picks up on the Town connections last night to the England squad in Ben Mortlock and the Rose family. No Rose (pen) last night but Danny is obviously scripted to get the clinching sudden-death penalty in the final to win 8-7. CA diarists will be in such a state as to be walking the dog in the bath if it comes to that.
Outside of the England squad, the closest we've come to a decent Town connection is the Danish lad with a big throw-in that plays for Hursty at Ipswich. Any others? With Sweden the opponents at the weekend, there must be a Michael Jolley angle to consider too. And no, @GTFCScoreboard, it's nice that you're thinking of him but this tweet is stretching it:
Love Pickford's believe in himself. Goes a long way.

See that in Jolley's style of management of our players last season #gtfc
More World Cup? Go have a read of both parts but particularly the second of Andy Freeman's excellent feature on the great Johnny Scott.
