Black Cats crossing our path...

16 July 2018

Devon Diary writes: The club confirmed this morning that Elliott Whitehouse has properly crocked his knee and will be out for quite a while. We all knew he was injured of course but perhaps not the severity of it and so we all wish him luck as he undergoes surgery before many months of recuperation and physio. It was nice to see the club plugging its match against Sunnerland with a pic of Whitehouse training in GTFC colours.

The Rokerites are promising to be at full strength for tomorrow's kickabout and James Findlater over at the Telegraph has harnessed some of the surplus World Cup euphoria in this article in which he notes that several of Big Sam's  Chris Coleman's Robbie Stockdale's? [googles] Jack Ross's men have just got back from Russia. They'll probably be wanting away from the Stadium of Light, notes Findlater, but right now they're still Mackems and so are obliged to make the trip down the A1 to Cleethorpes.

Not quite in the news earlier today was the rumour that Town have bid "five figures" for Motherwell striker Ryan Bowman. Town fans seem largely positive about this news, despite the Scottish Premier League apparently being the very definition of tinpot a few weeks ago when Sam Kelly signed for Motherwell's rivals Hamilton Academical.

It does seems odd to be looking to sign someone who's only just signed a new contract at Fir Park. Is there any truth in it (us bidding for Bowman, not Kelly going to Hamilton or Scottish footy being tinpot)? Well, you could pop along to the trust's Q&A evening tonight and ask Michael himself. Don't get shirty with him if he's unwilling to divulge anything about it though, as he's dropping in after his shift at the hospital finishes and so is bound to be tired.

There's nowt else happening so that's yer lot. Tune in tomorrow for more pre-Sunderland fervour. UTM.
