Stop mithering about the little things. Let's look at something rotten in the state of North East Lincolnshire.
What's the point of local journalism?
Puffery for puffed-up small-town business people? A clickbait shock-jock-a-thon of sentimental journeys into the past and raging bullshit? Fearless in pursuit of truth and justice, and as tireless as Lee Nogan in search of a channel ball behind the slightly tubby right-back?
Big questions, little answers?
Oh, I forgot, they brought down the last leader of the local council through his neighbour’s tweeting of a broken wall.
Now, I wonder, are they pursuing the present local leaders with the same zeal?
Are they looking at public records and wondering why a local politician is being pursued by the Revenue for what appears to be over £1m, which one of their companies owes? Are they asking why the liquidator of one of this same politician's companies is thinking about pursuing them personally for an asset of £610,032 which disappeared from the company's accounts just before they liquidated it?
How amusing that, when pressed, the response was reported as "cannot recall what the debt was, only that it was not realisable". Well, haven’t we all forgotten the odd £600,000 here and there? Haven’t we?
Looks like there’s public interest in asking that person to explain all that. We could do with tax being paid by rich people, couldn’t we.
You know the sad thing is that all this is on Companies House documents. You just have to read them. Are they cowards, cowered or clueless? That silence is deafening and dangerous.
Your Deviant Diary is simply alerting you to some basic facts which our local guardians of honesty in public life have neglected to mention. So far.
Now, are they going to follow this up?
