Taking the knee, and a club in crisis: your emails

I express an opinion but you tell people what to think

Red Rag To Bull, eh?

"To be anti-anti-racist is to be racist", being none Leftie knuckle dragger, I have to think about this. Hmm.
In the mean time.

The point of "taking the knee" for BLM is what? Disenfranchise the police? Maybe to burn some more businesses down? Or to mourn the deaths the riots actually caused, actually due to riots and inadvertently, as police were busy with the riots? That several clubs had booing shows, not that they are racist, as Trentside is trying to smear (and the perception that one must not/cannot question it) but that setting black against white against black is going to end in tears, and set racial harmony back years.

But of course if you think there has not been progress, and listen to Leftie wonks inventing problems as they go along, then read this: there is really no hope. I know your new interim leader Starmer, took the knee, but not sure if Corbyn did. Never mind he is a RACIST by the standards of Dr Ben Pitcher: he's a GARDENER. Me, I'm a hopeless case, a GARDENER and IKEA flat-pack builder. But it's hard to to be a RACIST especially gardening and flat-pack building while wearing that KKK outfit.

Shame that left wing politics is/has crept into football, when the most important thing is Town's advancement, which I looked forward to at the start of the season, and not the relegation fight that might be our misfortune.

Oh, I also don't want someone to tell how to think, its bad manners.

Awaiting for this not to appear anywhere.

Letters Ed responds: For the record: search "Przeniczny" on Cod Almighty and you'll get 222 hits: many articles and letters by him on a wide range of subjects, and then responses to what he has written. That's the trouble with our leftie wonk censorship - it just doesn't work

No more until there is change at the top

I'm so saddened to see Grimsby Town's name dragged through the mud yet again as a result of appalling judgement and dubious association to put it kindly. While Fenty has stood down from his position on NE Lincolnshire Council, his stated aim to devote more time to our football club fills me with despair.

Before that announcement I had already decided to sever my ties with the club until the current regime has gone. It's a matter of principle. They are getting no more money from me. It's the only language it understands.

Contrary to most Town fans, I asked for a refund on my 2019-20 season ticket and I certainly wasn't renewing for 2020-21 on the terms offered. I had a strong feeling that the club would reward Town fans' generosity with contempt and I wasn't going to give them the opportunity. I've felt abused over the years with what I have been served up and the knowledge that the institution of which I was once so proud was being run into the ground, much like the country, hasn't helped. I swallowed the fact that the major shareholder represents a political party whose policies I detest and will be contributing to further deprivation in the club's catchment area.

The association with a convicted fraudster shows appalling judgement and insensitivity. It isn't just about presentation. While a prison sentence may have been served, the suffering of fraud victims goes on and all the way towards the end of their often shortened lives. It is never something that remains in the past to them. I speak for all victims of fraud here. They lose savings, property, confidence, health, security and their trust. Was any thought given to these people?

I am aware of a dissonance of fraudsters towards victims because "nobody was hurt", referring to a lack of physical violence at the time. They were hurt however. It is no excuse.

I note the club have turned down the funding having been forced into a corner but the fact that it was being considered is unconscionable.

I will always want for the best when the Mariners take to the field but I won't be there to watch them until there is change at the top.

Beaten by a basket case

Last night in Essex an underwhelming week continued at Roots Hall. The Town went down 3-1 against division four's bottom club. Let's not underestimate the significance of "bottom" either. Until last night Southend had not won two games on the trot since 2018. They were adrift at the bottom of the table and have recently survived a winding up order in the high court. Surely we're better than a basket case? Apparently not.

Our off field issues seem to creeping onto the field. The Mariners have used 32 players in the league this season. That's more than anyone else in the division. We're tinkering, we're tampering, we're toppling over in spectacular fashion.

Expected goals statistics aren't to everyone's taste but they tell a story. Last night, Southend weighed in at 0.4 expected goals for the whole evening - no doubt reflecting their own supporter's expectations for both the evening and their season. They came away with three goals - surprising us all. A cracking strike on the half volley (let's be fair), a ball that trickled through from an unmarked player on the edge of the box, and a goalkeeping howler. Let's not forget the centre half, who scored their third goal while playing centre forward, had spent the week training at Cheapside. On the pitch we orchestrate our own downfall, just as we do off it.

In his post match interview Holloway sounded dejected and lost for words stuck in the middle of an expanding quagmire. If anybody was in doubt about our situation there's no mistaking it now - we're staring another relegation fight straight in the face. The Mariners sail majestically from disaster to another.
