There'll be news, but not yet. Yesterday a digger installing a sprinkler system at Blundell Park provided some of the most compelling action we have seen there for some years.

Are there going to be player of the year awards this season? Covid restrictions make a conventional presentation night problematic, which is just as well. It's not that no players have put in any decent performances - Harry Clifton would be the most obvious contender - but anyone happy to accept ought by that fact alone to be disqualified from having it. "Grimsby Town Player of the Year 2020-21" feels like the punchline to a bad joke, a thing no one would want on their record. Let's give that to Daphne Baker as well.
