Town sign another Marxist
9 June 2021
An informal standing order for CA diarists is to avoid duplicating the style or content of other websites. So Daubney Diary can tell you that John McAtee became Paul Hurst's second signing of the summer but I'd better tell it such a way that you incline your head by the end of the paragraph. Here goes. John, whose brother James is at Man City, joins Kevin 'Killer' Kilmore and Tony 'George' Daws as strikers Town have bought from Scunny, and becomes the first McAtee at GTFC since this one. That gag was stolen from Mark Stilton on Twitter but just as there's nothing in the CA guide on Oxford commas, there's nowt about bare-faced theft in there either.
Mentioning bare-faced theft and Mark leads me on to the rest of your Wednesday reading. Providing you didn't go down the rabbit hole of the CA Archives from that earlier link, there's only one show in town today. That's reading the Fenty Years: Part Three and the accompanying financial supplement from Tony Butcher which asks "Who paid for John Fenty to take over Grimsby Town?" Spoiler: the answer is "not John Fenty".
Yesterday, Middle-Aged Diary launched a poll to find the goalkeeper who shone brightest in a relegated team. The results are in and Danny Coyne landed 57 per cent of the votes for his displays in 2002-03.
