There may be small glitches but it’s not all smoke and mirrors

Trentside Diary writes: A big shout out and thank you to the backroom/office/those who keep the club on the rails staff this week. I have moaned about the way things have been done in the past but this week Sam, Rae and a very helpful woman in the office took time out to get my online account issues resolved.
Keen to purchase a ticket for the first match of the season and about 70 miles from the ground, I decided I should try to purchase online. Usually, I would ring the ticket office but understandably they were dealing with the physical queue in front of them. After a bit of faffing about, I realised the online system wouldn't let me buy a ticket because it didn't recognise that I had a season ticket. Panic set in: with a meagre allocation from those southerners, would I get a ticket?
A number of emails with Sam and the "woman in the office" and it was sorted. A problem with the accounts not linking up correctly somehow. If you've ever been involved in moving over to a new IT system yourself, you will be familiar with these glitches but it can be very frustrating. I'm pleased to get it sorted for when I need to buy a ticket for the third round of the FA cup against the likes of Nottingham Forest when those pesky boys in blue only allow 800 hundred of us to travel. Thanks again all.
It is another area where you can see investment in the club. It might be low key but it all shows a commitment and a sense of caring. Over the years the lack of anything happening at the ground in the closed season was stark.
We were amazed one year when a row of railings was painted. That was all it needed to make us think somebody somewhere was bothered, but in reality, it was probably only because they could be seen from the directors' box and a certain former owner probably didn't want the away directors to see how shabby everything was getting.
A couple of seasons ago, a mirror suddenly appeared in one of the ladies' toilets in the lower Youngs. It looked like it had come from someone's house, definitely not the sort of thing you would put up in a football stadium and there was much speculation how much the club might have paid the former owner for it.
That was where we were then. Investment in the infrastructure will benefit us all and will make it easier for Hurst to recruit. Let's stay with what's happening here and if the moaners don't like it, tough.
UTM!
