Hubble bubble are Town in trouble?
25 November 2021
Mr Target Demographic Diary writes: I think its best if I stay off Tuesday night's performance. Perhaps we could cheer ourselves up as Town fans by not going on social media, apart from reading this article, and instead I'll add further cheer by reminding all that we're back at the BP this weekend ready to take on a tough Boreham Wood side.
I think that's what we must remember. Although I've heard on Tuesday night it was a poor performance, Solihull aren't a bad side. The quality of football across the whole division as we've found out, the hard way in some cases, has improved and as I'm sure we're all aware, it was never going to be easy. We just have to keep faith in the manager and support the boys. With time, results will come. Hopefully.
On a more negative view (I'm afraid the positivity of my initial diaries has faded with recent performances), having watched Ryan Taylor I no longer believe Lenny is good enough. I know, don't all write hate towards me at once. However, if you watch the two, the difference is night and day. Taylor looks in control of the ball and lays it off well, contrasting to Lenny's ability to never quite look in control. I realise I contradict myself as although it doesn't sound it, I do like Lenny. No one can deny he's a legend (cult hero, no? - ed) around Blundell Park but he's not the player he was before and for me unfortunately no longer cuts it at the level we want to be playing at.
Perhaps this is why Hurst has delved back into the youth academy at Bristol through the recruitment of Sam Bell. Once again does anyone know who Bristol City's youth coach is and if Hurst has any reason for our apparent affiliation, albeit unofficial, with the Robins?
In true writer's fashion I now fully believe I have the writer's curse. In my debut diary I spoke about my uncertainty towards Ryley Towler and he proceeded to become a staple at the back for us. More recently, I sang Alex Hunt's praises. Since that diary I feel as if he has faded into the background of some matches. Perhaps I'm too harsh on the young Sheffield loanee, but like many others on the field the disappearance of his quality in some cases has meant we've not been able to break teams down as efficiently which unfortunately has cost us.
At least past Town players seem to be having better luck than us. Ex-loanee Connor Jennings capped off Stockport's impressive 5-0 win over Kings Lynn Town, completing what is hopefully a fairy-tale ending after he was diagnosed with a rare type of cancer back in March of this year. We wish the best for Connor and hope that his amazing recovery continues.
