Cod Almighty | Diary
Something for the kids at Christmas.
14 December 2021
I'll not get bogged down in Saturday's result. Reasonably pleased with how we played but another sucker punch meant we were left empty handed. We were too negative some think? Possibly, but with several creative players out it was always going to be a tough afternoon. Happy? No, just disappointed but I'll clap them on to our next outing.
Talking of future outings, at the time of writing there aren't too many tickets left for Boxing Day's game at Halifax so they will probably be gone by time this diary goes live. Those pesky Shaymen only allowed for a fixed number of tickets for youngsters and these had all gone by yesterday. They weren't prepared to increase the proportion of junior tickets. Up step our club who have offered to pay the difference for any fans who still want one. A gesture of goodwill which wouldn't have happened previously. Let's not forget that.
If you're looking for something quiet but exciting to engage your mini-mariners during the Christmas holidays, why not get them designing a third kit for next season? They need to buy a Mariners Trust sticker book or be junior members to enter. I'm really looking forward to seeing the winner. That's a lot more exciting than designing a Christmas card for your local MP. I've known children over the years who spent many hours designing kits but, unfortunately, they are all too old to enter now. That goes for all of us at Cod Almighty Towers. We're gutted. Profits from sales of the kit will be given to Shalom Youth Centre. Our club at the heart of the community. Brilliant!
I’m enjoying the "Days of Christmas shirts" posts by the club. They really bring back some memories. Yesterday's made me chuckle. Not the "Phwoarr, Erico going for the tight fit look", but the story behind the Jarvis sponsorship. At the time I wondered why they sponsored Town but didn't hear the story behind it till some years later. Well at least this fraudster did something good for the club. UTM!
