What a load of claptrap. Blue chip company, I've worked in a fish factory for years. Why does GTFC have to come on to a shitty web-site like codalmighty and explain decisions to you? Why do the fans need to know why and how much was received for Ryan Bennett or Jack Barlow. Would Manchester United have to tell a few idiots on an unofficial web-site what was going on?
Face it guys, you're nothing. What is the point in codalmighty any way? What is the point in just cutting and pasting stories from the Telegraph every day?
I guess you are too far up your own arses to publish this?

I guess that sums up why footy's like it is - unthinking fans just too accepting of their club being run into the ground.

Late night rant

Haven't we all sent e-mail at that time of night after an alcoholic beverage?
I like the fact that he uses Manchester United as an example of the whys and wherefores of how football clubs do things when discussing GTFCs club PR........like we are in the same league (both financial and position, ha ha).
GTFC is a local club for local people, like it or lump it, so good PR and communicating with the fans is the only way forward, otherwise who will be there to communicate with when the club finally gets round to it?

Good PR
I'd just like to say how much I enjoyed Mark Wilson's article about the club PR. I don't actually read the official site (or any football site but codalmighty) and don't take much interest in the announcements made by the club so cannot judge the accuracy of the content. But it was simply a pleasure to read something so measured,coherent and well argued, not to mentioned perfectly spelt and punctuated.

Letters Ed responds: Obviously, I owe Mick a favour- he has proved a sight more effective at generating feedback than my half baked suggestions of films inspired by the Mariners. He takes issue with one part of Mark's article, and I can't add to the reasons Mark gave (and which Ian reiterates) why the club should have some kind of dialogue with unofficial sites. One name not mentioned is that of Andy Tillson who did a super job at Team Bath. The side based on players from Bath University only stopped progressing higher up the Pyramid because of stringent FA rules on the source of players.

Another old feature revisited
Naturally most of your readers' memories won't go back as far as mine and, as I have lived away for forty years, I haven't seen many games in that time, but the best Town goal I saw was a (Big) Ron Cockerill free kick against Manchester City in the F A Cup in the 50's. It was about 40 yards out and went like a missile past the legendary Bert Trautmann.
It was interesting that there were two John Cockerill goals in the top ten. Obviously had his father's touch.
Great days for The Mariners.

Letters Ed responds: If anyone has any ideas what Clive is about now (the last we can recall is that he rejected the offer of a job with Charlton so he could retire back to Sunderland), get in touch.
And that's it for another fortnight. Now, the big issue, will we have a manager by the time the next postbag appears. Thoughts on who it should be, or who it is, to the usual address.
