Postbag: in colour

In the new postbag, we don't get many letters, but we do get pictures. To tell us what you did on your holidays, send us an email.
El Mariner
Been on my hols again; Lanzarote this time for a bit of Autumn sun to relieve the perpetual gloom that has descended on BP. I saw this restaurant in Arrieta and thought it might make a good entry for 'GTFC related eating and drinking spots' or I was even thinking you could use it to head an article on Town's next Spanish signing (I wont charge).
But things took a turn for the surreal when I got home and looked at the picture properly, for the good ship El Mariner appears to be rudderless, it is propping up a shambolic restaurant, and most spookily of all the window shutters above look like a Blue Square hovering over the whole operation.

Home thoughts from abroad (nearly, anyway) I
Ooooh Eastbourne Borough eh? That's just down the road from me in Hastings. Crawley isn't too far away either. Trust Lewes to have been as crap as we are last season or it could have been a hat-trick of local sides for the mighty GTFC to visit. Silver linings etc etc...
Down here being a GTFC supporter is a bit like being the only gay in the village.
Somehow I wish I hadn't said that last bit.
BTW UTM for what it's worth!

Danny in drinks shock
On the subject of grassing up!
I am reliably informed that laddie Danny Winston North is regularly seen guzzling lager in a canned form whilst spectating Humbertherm at the "cauldren of football intimidation" that is Fulstow playing fields. (former home of Fulstow X-Keys Fc R.I.P)
from If I told you I'd have to kill you
Letters Ed responds: That's scandalous. Someone introduce young Daniel to draught ales.
Home thoughts from abroad II
I guess just to let you all know that you put a smile on my face and to let you know that there are kinds of Cod `eds all over the place. I have run into them during my travels.
Cheers lads from the Tampa Bay Cod 'ed

You are perfectly correct. In 1930s there was in Freeman Street a haberdashery shop called Gees. It was invariably referred to as Geesesis.
from John Ellis
Letters Ed responds: This refers to the Diary's explanation of Grimsby pluralisation from some time towards the end of November.
I'm sorry I haven't a clue
How many points will Town amass this season? Could this beaten up outboard motor on an old fishing boat in Arrecife harbour provide a clue!

A message from Stirling Albion
Dear Sir/Madam,
This is an appeal by the Stirling Albion Supporters Trust to genuine football fans. All football fans are proud of their individual teams but there are times when hard times come along and fans are forced to stand up and be counted. Stirling Albion Football Club are struggling with debts at the moment which could threaten to put the club out of business. The Supporters Trust has decided to try to raise money to buy the club from the present Chairman who is in his 80's. Details can be found on the website www.buystirlingalbion.org.uk .
We are appealing to any fans who would like to pay their £40 ( £35 returnable if we fail ) to become members and part owners of the club. Please make Stirling Albion your second club and help us buy the club for the fans.
We have e-mailed yourself to appeal to you to put this on your website/forum.
Thank you in Advance.
from The Buystirlingalbion Campaign Team
Letters Ed responds: This one goes up without comment. Up to you what you do with it, if anything.
And that's that. If you have anything interesting to say, say it.
