Oh no, Ted's rolled in it again

Daubney Diary's cup draw wishes are simple. None of this happy to get to the third round and a big payday mullarkey, I'm sick of GTFC being the bridesmaids. So drawing top ranked Plymouth last night doesn't quite fit with the plan of Unatletico Shambles FC at home in every round until we beat Liverpool in final. Dion Dublin never did us any favours on the pitch, he was unlikely to start now as a ball plucker.
The tie threw up a few grumbles from the normally easy to please Town fanbase. Sides like Needham Market and Curzon Ashton that would have been dismissed as a tinpot inconvenience if drawn in the FA Trophy, were suddenly exotic must-see destinations on a par with drawing crack East German side Lokomotive Leipzig in the 1981 UEFA Cup. There's always the next round.
The draw did indirectly lead to one nugget being shared on Twitter: the origins of Pat Glover's name, who finished his career at Plymouth. Now, it's important not to get sidetracked here by the fact that two of Town's greatest strikers, Glover, and Tim Coleman were both actually named Ernest. This happened to Daubney before and several letters to the GTFC scouting department encouraging us to sign anyone by that name remain unanswered. Instead let's focus on the fact that Pat was called Pat because he was good at Patting the ball in the net.
I have an answer! Apparently it derives from school when he switched from goal stopper to goal scorer and kept 'patting' the ball in the net. Welsh spin on 'putting' perhaps or kept using his hands, but whichever, the nickname 'Pat' stuck. Info supplied by Rob Briggs.

This invites all sorts of speculation from our creative readers on what other Town players could have been renamed based on their particular skills or lack thereof. Let us know.
Not much else to report in this abbreviated diary other than to turn our attention on our readers again. All at CA were completely taken aback to be shortlisted in the Football Supporters Association's annual awards. Looking at the scale and coverage of the other sites on the shortlist, it would appear that a large number of you must have taken the time to nominate us. What a bloody lovely thing to do. Our thanks go to all of you. More deserving of recognition for the tireless and brilliant work she does is Kris Green. Kris has been shortlisted for the SLO of the year. So if you get a moment, get on there and vote for her.
Thanks again and UTM.
