Location, location, location

Trentside Diary writes: The events of the last week or two are probably when I most feel that I'm an exile. There are things going on in my home town that I would have enjoyed but for whatever reason I’m not there, frequently because I just cannot face another trip along the A46. Don't get me wrong, I love my adopted city but something good happening at home always fills me with a sense of pride, but disappointment that I'm missing out.

I would have love to have attended the premiere of Three Day Millionaire and hope to get to a screening soon. With due respect to the team behind the film, I would have to watch it to see, in order of priority:

1) Locations
2) Do I recognise any of the extras?
3) Being from a fishing family, does any of it ring true, not that it really matters
4) Oh yes, the story, the acting

It will be 10 December before we have a proper game at Blundell Park. That seems like an age away. It is also our only home game between now and Santa day. That's just a bit frustrating. I'll try to get an away trip in before the end of the year.

I hadn't realised until too late last weekend that Saturday afternoon games can be streamed during the World Cup. If I'm honest I’m not totally sure where I stand on the 3pm TV ban. Instinctively, it feels like it will ultimately affect the numbers attending games in person and so would say I'm not in favour. The next few weeks could actually give a better idea.

Will numbers attending games be down on average? There are obviously lots of factors that define what "average" is: good run, poor run, weather, the economy. That would also have to be set against other factors such as the opposition on the day. I'm sure some boffin could work it out. I can see an argument for allowing away fans being able to screen the game if the allocation is sold out but maybe that's too complicated to implement. Anyway, I'll not get to Wimbledon so I'll definitely take the opportunity to watch it.

I'm ignoring the pizza trophy game as I definitely know where I stand on that one.
