Sometimes you just step back and think of the memories. Football is woven through it all
6 June 2023
Sadly, I was back in Grimsby yesterday for the funeral of a good friend. One of those days when you see people that you haven't seen for donkey's yonks and reflect on happier days gone by. A bit like the start of a new football season really but without the naïve hope that this will be the year. His lad did put in his reservation for a bed for the night for Notts County away. Football, for some of us, is just an integral part of life.
Only 16 days till our next season takes shape, 60 days until the first Saturday. Poor advance planning around a Springsteen gig means I'll miss the game that weekend so I really hope it's away. That almost guarantees it won't be.
I've been hoping for a snippet of news on the Town front, just to have something more to write about than my own musings, the excitement, or lack thereof this time last year or the weather. The only bit I could find was the news that Max Crocombe has been called up for the New Zealand national squad for a couple of friendly games. Maybe all that exposure around the FA Cup run has done him a bit of good. Whatever, it's nice to see.
UTM!
