Laaaazy bastard!
15 August 2023
I thought I'd avoided watching replays of the goals against Town on the 'highlight' shows but switched on TV yesterday evening and unfortunately caught the local news which was reshowing County's goals. "What an afternoon at Meadow Lane". I was huffing! Yes, there was a wicked deflection for the second one; on another day we would have got something out of that game. They gave their first one their Goal of the Weekend. Apparently, John Bostock decided not to sign a 10-year contract with Barcelona as a kid but Notts County fans think he's found his home now. A frustrating afternoon for us but not a disaster.
It's always an interesting experience at Notts County as there are enough Town fans to not be able to see friends and family. Town always travel in numbers and we had the second highest away attendance of any team in the football league. If it hadn't been summer holiday time, there would have been more. We had some lads behind us who weren't overly happy with the team. Every missed or overhit pass was met with a chorus of "laaaaaazy bastard". To be fair it was so over done that it became funny, certainly to me. They said it so many times, I think I'll use it myself at anything in life that doesn't quite work or go right.
Town are advertising for matchday stewards. It must be tough at times but never boring. I have to say most of them are wonderful and if you know anyone who is interested, let them know.
On to this evening and it's not going to be the easiest of matches. Not sure who is classed as more glamorous nowadays, Salford or Wrexham but it's probably the Hollywood lot. No Maher, Khan or Wilson, which is disappointing but let's hope the squad are fully of energy!
