I'm liking what I'm seeing!

22 August 2023

I wasn't too disappointed with the result on Saturday. Unlike Miss Guest Diary I'm still processing it but before, during and after the game I would have taken a point. As it turned out there were good bits and bad bits, so not a horrendous result all considered. Particularly if you take in the game at their place.

Let's pause for a moment. We've played Wimbledon, Notts County, Salford and Mansfield in the league and had a win and two draws from the four games. Pre-season all of these clubs were expected to do well. We haven't actually played anyone who would be considered weaker. Those teams might have been thinking that was us. I have faith that we will continue to improve.

I like to see our younger players going out on loan and Essel and Braithwaite have both been involved in wins at their current clubs. The experience for them both and the opportunity for them to shine must be immense. Bring that back to Town at some point in the future lads!

You might have already seen that Grimsby Town Sports & Education Trust (GTSET) are one of the final two organisations shortlisted to receive funding from Humberside Police and Crime Commissioner's office to tackle anti-social behaviour in Immingham. I wouldn't normally bother looking any further at these kind of things but for once I clicked on it and read on. If you're reading this, you are almost certainly a Town fan and I'm going to urge you to vote for GTSET. Obviously, it's your choice! Aside from the fact that I would prefer the club delivering something as it will have more credibility, I liked the fact that they are offering "activities for young people aged 11 to 18" and not just to those young people "causing issues" as per the other shortlisted group. Isn't it better to have a mix of kids attending as it's all of their community? Get voting!
