Then we take Berlin

11 July 2024

Yes we're happy as fish and gorgeous as geese and wonderfully clean in the morning. Your Guest Diarist was right to say a fortnight ago that it was gonna be hotter than July this month. The weather might be biding its time but the sport is making up for that. Cav burst his lungs one more time to record an epic against the odds sprint victory. The test team bowled fast yesterday and batted steady. And England, well England finally abandoned the weird chord changes and difficult time signatures of their prog rock phase to play some decent rock and roll music last night. In patches anyway, we live in hope.

I always love it when us Town fans get to see a good player before he found fame. Vardy, Crouch, Watkins.

I imagine a long conversation with Mr Artell (he always said in interviews that a proper answer to any question would take at least two hours) would be very similar to the first listen of A plague of lighthouse keepers in 1971. Baffling, difficult, but your sixteen year old self somehow liked it. But not to be tackled too often. Thankfully he has found a way to communicate his tunes to us in a simpler way, even throwing in the odd hook line. I like him now he has abandoned the concept album and started signing young players who look like they can carry a hit tune. Most of all the new players are on the way up rather than on the way down. If we fail, we will fail better for sure. I just realised that my CA GINIY T shirt is older than Cam Gardener. I hope he wears as well.

It is of course the great British pea week. Of course it is - I have been picking'em mesen. Any of you spend a summer at Northray? Being a joskin I got to drive the slurry tanker one summer. And while I'm asking questions here are a few more. Are all Icelanders full of ice and fire - do they play in winter gloves? Was Docksfest better than Bardney? Did Lloyd Griffiths have a Wavy Gravy moment? If you can be arsed tweet me the answers for pre-season is the time to be inconsequential. See yer.
