Stay Fishy

Mr Target Demographic writes: Well folks, I have now returned to the Toon, after a long summer back in the Shire and I am once again challenged with the task of championing that Newcastle are not the best team in black and white.
But you may see me back at Blundell Park soon enough as, this season, I haven't quite got my fill of Grimsby Town just yet. Typically I get to go to around five or six Town games before I head back off to Newcastle but this year I only got three in the league. The two games at home and then Notts County away. I really shouldn't count the trip to Nottingham, so it's basically only two!
That being said, despite the lack of football I've seen us play, I can definitely say it's been a better opening than previous years. I know we only have six points in five games and I agree our away form is troubling, but I honestly believe we should have won that Chesterfield game. It was daylight robbery. Two individual errors and them shutting up shop caused me to have many frustrations last Saturday. Through all my rage I still found our football to be far superior to Chesterfield's and our game finally worked away from home. It's ironic to say it worked as we lost but we should have been 2-0 up in the opening 30 minutes.
Basically, I'm not worried. If you read my previous diary you will know how tough those opening five fixtures were and to get six points out of them when I predicted two or three – I'll take it. Do I think we should have more? Maybe. September and October are vital for us as we'll be playing teams in and around the middle of the table; how many points we pick up against them will determine where we sit come Christmas. We need the two back-to-back home games to really kick us on and go on a five-game winning streak. It's possible. With Tharme coming back along with Thompson I'm excited, not so excited to be watching on the telly but excited to see if the lads can play as well as Artell and the fans know they can.
With being back to university my diaries will be wrapping up in a couple of weeks. I'm not finished with them, just focusing on my last year up north.
For now stay fishy, Grimsby and UTM
